William B. Stendeback is a 1974 graduate of Carrollton Community Unit High School in Carrollton, IL. He earned an Associates degree from Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL then attended Worsham School of Mortuary in Skokie, IL and graduated March 9, 1983. He served his apprenticeship in Naperville, IL at the Frederich-Jones Funeral Home, obtaining his director's license in June of 1984. Bill was the manager of the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, IL for 15 years, before purchasing the White County homes. He is also a licensed insurance broker.
He is a member of the St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Carmi, where he participates in the choir, is a Eucharistic Minister, and has served on the council. He is also past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
Currently, Bill is a member of the Carmi Kiwanis Club, Carmi Elks, Sons of the American Legion, and the Carmi Country Club. He is a board member of the Carmi Chamber of Commerce and is past President of the Friends of the Carmi Public Library. He has been involved in many community activities, including the Cancer Walk, and the Kiwanis sponsored "Corn Day". He and his family have entertained at the White County Senior Citizens Christmas party and gospel sing and area churches.
Between services, Bill and Lynn work together pouring foundations and setting the monuments they sell. Also, major renovations have been made to their homes and they have done the majority of the work. Remodeling has always been something they have enjoyed doing together.
Besides spending time with his family and enjoying his children's activities, his special interests include Standardbred horse racing, Cardinal baseball, pro football, golf, gardening, and woodworking, traveling, boating and camping with the family.
Elizabeth Lynn Smith Stendeback is also a 1974 Carrollton Community Unit High School graduate. She graduated from Patricia Stevens Career College in St. Louis, MO. Upon graduation, she was employed as a legal secretary in Carrollton. After relocating to Jacksonville, IL and taking several years off to raise her children, she returned to work as a Vision and Hearing Technician for the Morgan County Health Dept. Before moving to Carmi, she was last employed as the Administrative Assistant to the Development Director of Routt Catholic High School in Jacksonville.
She is a member of the St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Carmi. She is a member of the Ladies Guild and has helped the CYM with fundraising projects.
Lynn belongs to the Carmi Preceptor Alpha Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and served as Treasurer for two years. She is a member of the Carmi Country Club and the Ladies Golf League, having served as Secretary for two years. She also serves as an Advisory Council Committee Representative for the Southeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging, having been selected by the White County Senior Citizens Center.
Her family is her main focus and she treasures every minute with them. She also enjoys gardening, basket weaving, cross-stitching, reading, home decorating, dancing, golf, boating, camping, exercising and time with friends.
