Remembering A Life Lived
Myrtle Mae Sigler, 87 of Mt. Vernon passed away at her home on June 25, 2019. Myrtle was born on December 1, 1931 to Russell and Rachel (Stone) Cummings in Fredonia, Kentucky.
Myrtle was a graduate of Locklear College and worked as a beautician, bookkeeper and secretary for various places throughout her life. She enjoyed art, and especially loved painting with her oil paints. She liked listening to music and was learning to play the guitar. She also loved to tend to her garden and watch the many birds she kept and fed. Myrtle was a member of the St. Matthews Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Rachel; husband John Rufus, son Johnnie Sigler; brother Thomas Cummings; and, sister Mickey Olawski.
She is survived by her brothers Jerry Cummings, Johnny Cummings, Russell Cummings Jr, and Charles “Mike” Cummings; and, sisters Mary Lou Stanton, Betty Jo Henry, Carol Shephard, and Velda Iverson; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Per Myrtle’s wishes no services will be held. A burial at Norman Cemetery in Fredonia, Kentucky will be held at a later date. Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon is charged with handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
