Donald VanderTuuk

Donald R. VanderTuuk, 81, of Mt. Vernon passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 at his home. Donald was born to Richard and Helen (Tanis) VanderTuuk in Hammond, IN on June 17, 1938. Donald met and married Betty (Martin) VanderTuuk in 1967 and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2015.

Donald served in the United States Army and was a lineman for NIPSCO in Northern Indiana. Donald was a huge Cubs baseball fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Darlene (Tim) Ghrist and Lisa (Scott) Kempf; grandchildren, Todd and Megan Ghrist, Brandon and Mallory Kempf; brothers, Robert & Tom VanderTuuk; sister, Geraldine Korcha.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon from 4 to 7 p.m. with a private burial at a later date.
