Marilyn Ackerman

Marilyn H. Ackerman, 88, of Carmi passed away on May 7, 2022 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.  She was born in Carmi, IL on March 10, 1934 the daughter of Baylus and Martha Jane (Baird) Hargrave.  Marilyn married Harry Ackerman on December 26, 1953 in Corinth, MS and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2015.  She was a homemaker and was a devoted treasurer for several years of Big Prairie United Methodist Church. Marilyn loved to cook and entertain. She enjoyed the Holidays, especially Christmas, when she would make Christmas candy with her daughters and grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Chas) Hisch of San Antonio, TX. Lisa (Dean) Cross of Carmi and Amber (Alex) Carney of Carmi; grandchildren, Julie (Chad) Loughrey, Kimberly (Cale) Brooks, Adam (Danielle) Cross and Ashley Cross, Walker Roser, Lexa, Liza and Levi Carney; great-grandchildren, Jack  and Lucy Loughrey; along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and four siblings, Reva Price, Lester, Chester and Ervin Hargrave.

Funeral services for Marilyn H. Ackerman, 88, of Carmi will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi.  Burial will follow in Big Prairie Cemetery in Carmi.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Stendeback Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's memory to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
