Mildred L. (Gilpin) Dalton 87 of Carmi, passed away Monday November 9, 2020 at the Linda E. White Hospice Center in Evansville. She was born September 14, 1933 in Pine, MO the daughter of Omer and Thelma (Watson) Peterson. She was first married to the father of her children, Jess Gilpin and he preceded her in death. She later married Eddie Banks and he also preceded her in death.

Mildred was a homemaker, she loved her family, especially all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved her granddog Cooper. She never met a stranger.

She is survived by her sons, Bill (Diana) Gilpin and John (Virginia) Gilpin; daughters, Barbara (Joe) Sweet, and Mary (Kenny) Johnson; nineteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Peterson and sisters, Marie Provance and Eva Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husbands, sons, Steve and Tom Gilpin; daughters, Peggy Cutchens and Betty Smith; granddaughter, Tonya Gilpin;and sister, Ruby Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday November 15, 2020 at the Carmi New Beginning Church of God with Rev. Kenny Rager officiating. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneral home.com. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
