Ollen Smith

Ollen Owen Smith, 74, of Omaha, IL, passed away at 10:46 p.m., on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He was born on February 28, 1947, in Elizabethtown, IL, the son of Elmer and Ollie (Crabb) Smith. On May 18, 1968, he married Annabelle Finley at Cave-In-Rock, IL, and together they shared over 53 years of marriage. Ollen was of the Christian faith. He was retired having worked in glass manufacturing as a maintenance man. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors and took delight in gardening, hunting, and four-wheeling, most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Annabelle Smith of Omaha, IL, Ollen is survived by his children, Ollen Smith Jr. of Eldorado, IL, Jonathan Smith of Eldorado, IL, Tina (Richard) Thompson of Steger, IL, Betty (Rey) Mendoza of Lowell, IN and Katrina (Matthew) Cessna of Omaha, IL; 20 grandchildren, Alissa, Stephanie, Deanna Tiffany, Michael, Alana, Vanessa, Rey, Noel, Alex,  Silas, Olivia, Eloisa, Eliana, Savannah, Destiny, Airiona, Zackary, Austin and Bella; 7 great-grandchildren, Logan, Caroline, Cera, Molly, Oliver, Kayleigh and Bayleigh; a sister, Rose Page of Shawneetown, IL; a sister-in-law Luvean Smith of Rosiclare, IL, Several Nieces, Nephews and a grand-dog Lucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings, including John Robert, Danny, Mabel, Betty, Kenneth, Wayne, and James.

Celebration of Life services for Ollen Owen Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi, IL. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi has been entrusted with the arrangements.
